It is normal and fine for magicians to talk about what is going on while performing tricks. However, if you are going to be presenting many tricks you would want to add some variety, themes and angles. Following are seven themes that you could use to increase the impact of a trick.

• Detective: With this theme you do not have to really claim magical powers, but instead state that you have increased your observation skills to be able to read any changes with facial expression, body language, voice or rely on DNA, fingerprints etc.
• Fortune teller: You could predict about what might happen in the future. There are several tricks suitable for this theme.
• Time travel: Having the ability to travel through time. You could start with a particular situation, get it mixed up, and then get back to it at the end just as if you have travelled back into time. It is perfect for tricks such as having to freeze time and get something to happen.
• Breaking all the laws of physics: Talking about some new technology which you have made up yourself.
• Reading minds: Tricks whereby you can read the minds of others or identify what they are thinking.
• Telekinesis: There are so many possibilities where you could talk about harnessing the power of a mind, to move objects or even make things happen which are definitely beyond the physical means of a man such as having to cut a banana with the power of your mind, for example.
